Šajkača is a traditional Serbian hat originally worn by men in the countryside. It became part of the Serbian identity and thus also formed part of the military uniform. It has the shape of an overturned boat and is generally black, green, or grey in color.
The Šajkača is made from a soft handmade cloth and is therefore very comfortable to wear. During peacetime, the hat bears no badge; however, it is decorated with the Serbian national symbol of a double-headed Eagle during wartime.
