The cowboy hat has a high crown and around and wide brim. The crown is dented at the center and a few pinches on either side. Further, it is decorated by a braid around the crown. It is very popular in the western US among the cowboys in Texas and ranch workers, which is why it has come to be known as the Cowboy Hat.
The hat’s structure had a practical purpose because the wide brim provided shade to horseriders, and the tall crown provided insulation. As horse journeys could take a lot of time, these hats were best for long-wear comfort.
