Ushanka is the Russian fur hat with foldable ear flaps and the furry front that covers the forehead. The ear flaps can either be folded and tied upwards or backward when it is less cold or dropped down to cover the ears and tied under the chin.
Ushankas are made from inexpensive animal furs such as sheepskin, muskrat, or rabbit fur. At times, if it is made from synthetic fur, it’s known as ‘fish fur’ Ushanka. Ushankas a very warm and can be worn in arctic regions with temperature going down to even −70°C.
