A Newsboy cap was not just one kind of cap. It was a whole category of caps that newspaper delivery boys wore. The most common feature about these was the very short and stiff visor. The visor could be so short that it would barely be visible.
There were many styles that the delivery boys would wear, including the round-shaped Apple caps or Eight or Six-Paneled caps and the slanting Flat caps and Ascot caps. Most of these caps were made from wool or wool alternatives to keep the boys warm in the early hours of paper-delivery.
Some of these caps have become a popular addition to the fashion wardrobe of many kinds of wearers such as golfers, chess players, and musicians.
