Matador hat, also known as Montera, is a traditional Spanish hat worn by the bullfighters. The hat was made from astrakhan fur with velvet inner lining for wearing comfort. It had three body components arranged linearly. The main rounded flat top part rested on the wearer’s head and two stiff bulbs that shaded the ears but did not droop down.
These bulbs resembled the bull horns and were used to attract the bulls towards the fighters so that the bull would charge at the fighter and the fight would become more exciting.
