Vincent Lunardi became the first man in Britain to ascend in a balloon and, therefore, became the talk of the town and a ladies’ favorite. His female fans wore the Lunardi hats, which have a miniaturized replica of the balloon protruding from its crown. They even went to the lengths of weary bulging Lunardi garters.
However, Lunardi hats have evolved because not all women loved their appearance. Some even thought of it as vulgar. Therefore, the hat underwent a few changes.
