A feathered hat, as the name suggests, is a hat decorated with feathers. The hat shape can vary from small hats or fascinators that barely cover the wearer’s head to a wide brim hat with a feather tucked in the crown’s grosgrain ribbon. Even the feather construction varies and is inversely proportional to the hat’s size, i.e., the smaller the hat, the bigger the feather construction.
Feathered hats are more of a symbol of affluence and achievement. As per a common English idiom, a feather in a cap was added to convey a new achievement. Therefore, the wearer prefers a heavier feather construction.
Small feathered hats are worn by women with formal dresses, while Fedoras with feathers are unisex.
