Bycocket is the hat with a pointed brim resembling a bird’s beak. It was fashionable in Western Europe during the 13th to 16th centuries. It was a symbol of royalty and nobility but later became popular among the traders and the merchants.

The hat had a wide brim that was turned up and pinned at the back and given a pointed shape in the front. The hat’s crown could have a pointed or a rounded tip. It was a symbol of affluence and therefore decorated with feathers, jewels, and similar items.

One of the most famous wearers of this hat is Robin Hood, and therefore it is also known as the Robin Hood hat at times.
