Boss Of The Plains was the predecessor of what came to be known as the cowboy hat. It had a high crown with a rounded top and a wide flat wafer-thin brim.
The crown protected the head, and the brim protected the neck and the shoulders. Further, it was made from felt-fur that made it waterproof. It had a plain strap around the crown for decoration.
Inside of the hat had a sweatband and a bow that demarcated the front and the back of the hat. The cap’s shape is similar to the Fedora minus the hat pinches.
